The Mason Orchestra program began in 2002 and has since grown to over 1,000 strings students in grades 6-12. It is now recognized as a premier orchestra program in the state of Ohio.
Mason Orchestra students are well represented in numerous local youth orchestras, as well as competitive regional and All-State honor ensembles. They continue to receive unanimous superior ratings at state orchestra adjudicated events. The orchestra regularly invites guest clinicians, composers, and professional musicians to work with them throughout the school year. Symphony Orchestra, at Mason High School, has received state and national recognition since it was formed in 2006.
High school ensembles have been invited to perform at the Ohio Music Education Association State Professional Development Conference, National Orchestra Cup, Capital Orchestra Festival, and American String Teacher's Association National Orchestra Festival. Over the past ten years, they have had the honor of performing at Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Chicago Symphony Center, Cleveland's Severance Hall, the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, and The Smithsonian. The Mason Orchestra Program has worked in collaboration with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Barrage, Section Quartet, composer Roger Zare, and Time for Three.
