The Mason Orchestra program began in 2002 and has since grown to over 1,100 strings students in grades 6-12.
Instruction begins at Mason Intermediate School in 6th grade. Students continue into heterogenous orchestra classes through 7th and 8th grade at Mason Middle School.
Approximately 360 string players participate in six performing ensembles at Mason High School. Mason orchestra students are well represented in numerous local youth orchestras, as well as competitive regional and All-state honor ensembles. They continue to receive unanimous superior ratings at state orchestra adjudicated events. They have had the honor of performing at Lincoln Center, Cleveland's Severance Hall, the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, The Smithsonian, and Chicago Symphony Center.
The orchestras regularly invite guest clinicians, composers, and professional musicians to work with them throughout the school year. The Mason Orchestra Program has worked in collaboration with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Barrage, Section Quartet, composer Roger Zare, and Time for Three.
